Even after Christmas, drivers must be vigilant

Now that Christmas has come and gone, the second half of the holiday season will begin. This means that retailers will be just as vigilant in collecting money in returns and secondary purchases. With shopping centers slightly busier than they were in the final days before Christmas, it is expected that drivers will continue to be aggressive and ornery.

NHTSA to make new guidelines for older drivers

The reality of having older drivers on the road has prompted federal regulators to create new rules to deal with the growing number of senior citizens behind the wheel. According to a recent USA Today.com report, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced a five-year plan to improve safety for older drivers.

Cobblestone ice still causing issues for motorists

The blast of wintry air that came over the weekend created havoc across North Texas roads. While many people stayed indoors, the icy weather brought travel to a halt on streets and highways. According to a number of accounts reported to WFAA.com, drivers on I-20 were stranded for nearly 24 hours as first responders could not reach cars that were simply stuck in virtual parking lots. The same could be said for drivers on I-35E.

Beware of black ice across the area

A balmy, late fall afternoon could give way to freezing rain and sleet tomorrow and through the weekend, according to a number of media reports. While the cold temperatures may be welcome by some who equate cooler air with the holiday season, it could also create major road hazards.

2 people died and 4 others injured in Texas accident

A chain reaction accident in Texas left two people dead and four others injured. Reports say that the car accident occurred in the westbound lane of the highway when a garbage truck hit an extended cab pickup. The garbage truck then collided with a sedan and continued until it hit a second pickup truck that was stopped nearby. Eventually, the vehicle slammed into the road barrier, came to a stop and burst into flames.
