Ride accidents can lead to liability

Amusement park enthusiasts love the thrills and adrenaline rushes that come with riding rides. It’s what keeps fans coming back to Six Flags Over Texas and the Texas State Fair year after year. For all the fun and excitement that comes to patrons, there are some downsides as well. Sometimes, people are injured (and sometimes killed) on rides.

How older drivers can avoid accidents

It is an inescapable fact that our driving public includes more older drivers than in past decades. According the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, drivers over age 65 made up 16 percent of the driving public in 2011, which is up from 15 percent from 2002. Jury finds AEG not responsible in Michael Jackson's death

The wrongful death trial pitting concert promoter AEG against the family of deceased pop star Michael Jackson has ended with a verdict.  For readers who are unfamiliar with the case, Michael Jackson's family sued AEG because they believe the promoter was negligent in assigning (and not supervising) Dr. Conrad Murray, who gave Jackson a fatal dose of propofol that led to Jackson's death in 2009.

Not all crash avoidance systems reliable, says IIHS

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) conducted the first-ever tests of crash avoidance systems; mechanisms that are touted for their ability to help drivers avoid objects (and other vehicles) that they may not initially see. Essentially, these systems incorporate lasers and on-board radar to measure the speed and distance of nearby objects and alert the driver to hazards that may lie ahead.
