Thanksgiving travel could be treacherous

Travel during the Thanksgiving holidays has become a tradition across Texas as families from throughout the state get together to give thanks. With this tradition comes a host usual suspects for car travel: traffic, irritated drivers, and the specter of accidents.

Cyclists beware. Drivers may not be prosecuted

Although the fall weather has made things cooler in our region, bicyclists still are taking to the road. With many cyclists sharing the road with cars and trucks, it is inevitable that accidents will happen. In fact, as cities become denser, the chances that a bicyclist will be injured increases.

FMCSA inspections may have missed safety issues

The safety of bus and trucking companies is a continuing issue in the United States. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is tasked with overseeing commercial carriers to ensure that they are following safety guidelines. These rules include limitations on the number of hours drivers can be behind the wheel each day, to the safety checks that must be conducted before every journey.
